A few weeks ago I bought this little device called a "Munchkin" self-feeder for Eli. It's essentially a very hard to open mesh bag with a handle, which you can place fruit or veggies into. Anything that would be large enough to be a choking hazard yet soft enough to be smooshed can go into this self-feeder bag -- for example, chunks of banana, plums, pears, grapes, berries, etc.
Well, Elijah LOVES this little thing. He grabs it and chews and smooshes and makes a huge mess, but in the process will eat an entire banana, plum, pear, you name it! He's so cute waving it around in the air and then biting it. The only downside is that it's messy, and a bit of a pain to clean out (especially bananas). Still worth it though!
